From Struggling to Sustainability: Sokina’s Survival Story

The story of Sokina is one of resilience and determination in the face of immense difficulty. Faced with a situation that was becoming increasingly desperate as her husband’s chronic illness prevented him from working, Sokina was in search of a way to secure her family’s survival in the megacity of Dhaka. Fortunately, her story took a turn for the better when she found out about the
Greenbiz cooperative, an initiative of the IMPACT-GE project that was jointly funded by the Cocacola Foundation and SR Asia Bangladesh. Through technical and financial support from the cooperative, Sokina was able to start collecting plastic PET bottles from waste workers and selling them to the cooperative for further recycling. This initiative has given Sokina a second chance
to fight for her and her family’s survival
